Netflix & Stitch: Vol 4

June 12, 2019

Hey! I am still doing this TV thing, I seem to have pretty good streak so far!

I've had to go back and re-read last month's blog post, because I have watched so much lately, I have forgotten what I've already told you about.

*Consults SeriesGuide app*.....OK, we are mostly watching second or third seasons of shows this month....

Killing Eve!

Whilst it's fresh in my mind. I have just finished watching season 2, which was released in the UK on Sunday. You can only watch it on the BBC iPlayer.

I really enjoyed the first season, but I wasn't as excited about it as a lot of other people. Season 2 absolutely blew me away though. Because the relationship between Eve and Villanelle was already established, I think they had good ground to expand the characters and storylines. The ending was epic, but that's all I will say.

Chernobyl on Sky/Now TV.

Of course I watched it! I actually knew quite a bit about Chernobyl already, but this taught me a lot about the epic cock ups which happened. It is absolutely horrifying. Some things were changed, but there is plenty of reading online which sets the record straight.

My only criticism is the choice to do it in English language. But I do understand that some people are put off by subtitles.

The Handmaid's Tale started back on Channel 4 on Sunday too (maybe Monday?). If you are in the US, you are lucky sods! Hulu seem to be adding new episodes more regularly than we are getting them here.

I have only watched the first episode of season 3, and I already feel utterly emotional and sick. It's one of those shows which is so gut wrenching, it can really affect you mentally, and yet you can't stop watching it. The first episode was 100% packed with excitement and emotion, I am super excited about the rest of the season.

(Also, June's Lolli Club theme is The Handmaid's Tale, and I haven't done a yarn club reveal blog in so long, so watch this space next month).

Happy! Season 2 started again on Netflix.

This time they are celebrating Easter. It just got even more weird. Much like Killing Eve, I am preferring the second season to the first season. It's really funny in parts, but also freaky and violent. No wonder my other half loves it.

Good Girls season 2 on Netflix.

OK, I enjoyed it, I would be lying if I said I didn't. But it does just feel like they are rehashing the same old stories from season 1. If they get renewed for a season 3, they are going to have to shake it up a bit. Still worth watching, just not that exciting.

Back To Life on BBC iPlayer.

This was fantastic. Miri is released from prison after spending 18 years inside. It's funny, dark and sad. Really worth a watch.

Good Omens on Prime.

Based on the book by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. This is so well written and acted. We are watching as a family, and we are all really enjoying it. I think it's rated as a 12, but we feel that it's absolutely fine for our 8yo (that entirely depends on your own parenting opinions though, you may want to watch it yourself beforehand).

Michael Sheen is one of the most talented actors to come out of the UK in a long time. He is my absolute favourite. But I do feel that he is a little overshadowed by David Tennant in this one.

Game Of Throne.....Do I need to talk about it? I'm still digesting it! Actually, I won't. I will do a separate blog post so that I can show you my finished GoT KAL socks. I'll do that later in the week.

Oh! And Big Little Lies season 2 is on Now TV (presumably one of the Sky channels?). Only one episode so far, I am yet to watch it.

Coming soon:

Yes, we are still waiting on a date for Peaky Blinders (eyeroll emoji....Yes, I just typed that!). I'm getting quite frustrated with the wait.

Animal Kingdom Season 4 (Prime). This started on TNT in the US at the end of May, so hopefully we should have it here soon.

Dark Season 2 (Netflix). Coming 21st June.

OITNB Season 7 (Netflix). Coming 26th July.

Stranger Things Season 3 (Netflix). Coming 4th July.

The Letdown Season 2 (Netflix). This has just started back up on ABC Australia, so we should hopefully get it over here soon, Fingers crossed.

OH!!! And I got a notification on my phone last night telling me that Russian Doll has officially been renewed for a second season! So that makes up for the loss of Santa Clarita Diet. Woop woop!!

Get watching. Let me know what you've been enjoying.
